The rich history of Chongqing University dates back to the Republic of China, where it was already recognized as one of the most prominent national universities in China. Jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Chongqing Municipality, the university is also a member of the "Alliance of Excellent Universities" and the "Alliance of China-Russia Engineering Universities." It has been selected for several prestigious plans, including the "2011 Plan," "111 Plan," "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan," "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan," and is a part of the "State-sponsored Postgraduate Project of National Construction High-level University."
